In My Mailbox [9]

In My Mailbox is a meme hosted by The Story Siren, where we share books that we've received.

Despite the colossal amount of books I own but haven't read, I got more books from the library this week.

Where She Went is the sequel to If I Stay. I've been on the waiting list for a while, so I'm really excited to have it now!

The Princess and the Snowbird is a re-told fairytale, and I love fairytales (and the title is so pretty. Yes, the title).

Song of the Sparrow is about Elaine of Astolat (I think that's her name?). I haven't read anything about Artuhrian legends in a LONG time, so I'm looking forward to reading this one.

In the Belly of the Bloodhound is the fourth book in the Bloody Jack series. I borrowed it in audiobook format because I've heard that it's very well-done.

Assassin is the first in the Lady Grace Mysteries series. It's about a lady-in-waiting to Elizabeth I who (surprise!) solves mysteries.

I just realized that most of the books I borrowed are historical fiction. Which is not a bad thing, because I love historical fiction! But it has to be historically accurate. I can't stand historically inaccurate historical fiction.

I know what you mean about historical accuracy--although, since even the best writers have had some lapses, I'd be satisfied with historical honesty. If characters seem to have completely modern mores, I don't care how accurately recreated the rest of their time period was.

A few days ago, I asked a history buff friend what he thought of a certain movie set during the United States' colonial era. He replied, "I didn't like it. Too much female empowerment." LOL! It's not as sexist as it sounds; he just doesn't like anachronisms like that. =)
